Down to Earth Garden Club, South Windsor, CT
About Us
The Club
The Down to Earth Garden Club was founded in September 1973 and two of the original founding members are still active with the club. Club members include both men and women, with ages ranging from the teens to the 80's. Gardening expertise among members ranges from beginner to life-long gardener and from flower gardening to vegetable growing. There are a number of Certified Master Gardeners and Advanced Master Gardeners in our club who willingly share their knowledge in helping us solve problems in our own gardens.
Our Public Gardens
Club members designed, installed and maintain the gardens at the entrance to Nevers Park, the Butterfly Garden next to the Park's main parking lot, the Sensory Garden at "My Friend's Place" Boundless Playground on Nevers Road and the Ann Masi Memorial Garden at Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The Ann Masi Garden is now maintained by Wood volunteers.
Meetings
Garden Club meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from September through May except December. Meetings begin at 7:00 PM and are held at the Avery Street Christian Reformed Church, 661 Avery Street, South Windsor, CT, unless otherwise specified. Meetings are open to the general public, and visitors are always welcome. Our programs typically feature experts in various aspects of gardening, usually with an emphasis on environmentally friendly approaches to gardening and lawn care.
